The process

UGI Dealer Solutions makes it simple and easy to obtain your dealer's license.

We eliminate the guesswork of setting up your LLC or corporation to the state application process for your dealer license — we help you through every step!

Step One

Initial consultation

You'll meet with a dealer specialist to go over your goals, your options, the requirements, and the costs involved — and get every question answered.

Step Two

Evaluation of applicant

We identify everyone who'll be part of your dealership and collect driver's licenses for anyone driving on dealer plates. Our insurance specialist reviews each person's motor vehicle record to confirm they're insurable.

Step Three

Business formation & EIN

We form your LLC or corporation and obtain your federal Employer Identification Number, so your dealership is ready for licensing and banking.

Step Four

Office & required signage

Your dealership needs a business address — in most states, your home won't qualify. UGI sets up a state-compliant office that's maintained for as long as you hold your license.

Step Five

Application preparation

We prepare your dealer license application and walk you through every piece of information the state requires.

Step Six

Insurance & surety bond

Our insurance specialists secure the best rates on your dealer bond and liability insurance, and make the whole process easy.

Step Seven

Application filed & processing

We review your final application, submit it to the state, and act as your point of contact — responding to any state requests and keeping you updated throughout.

Step Eight

Inspection process

Once your application is approved for inspection, we schedule your location inspection. After it's completed and your license is approved, you'll receive your license and dealer plate application by email.

Step Nine

License & plates delivered

We pick up your license certificate and dealer plates from the DMV and forward them directly to you.

Step Ten

Auction access

We register your company for auction access — Manheim, ADESA, ACV, OPENLANE, CarMax, EDGEPIPLINE, IAA, Copart, and hundreds of regional wholesale auctions. You're ready to start buying and selling.

Why UGI

We are experienced car dealers in the business for over 20 years!

Stop wasting time watching every video on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Most influencers who claim to make a ton of money "flipping cars" are really making their money by you watching and supporting their videos. A few creators share valid information on how to get your dealer's license — but most don't give you the real, legitimate picture of the car dealer industry.
